One morning last week, I awoke with one word running through my mind, over and again. As I lie there meditating on the word, a scripture came to mind.
The word that I was pondering on was, restore. The scripture is from the book of Isaiah.
But this is a people robbed and plundered;
All of them are snared in holes,
And they are hidden in prison houses;
They are for prey, and no one delivers;
For plunder, and no one says, “Restore!”
(Is 42:22)
I don’t know how this scripture impacts you but to me, it eludes that if someone were crying RESTORE things may have changed.
Restore is defined as to return a person or thing to a former position, place or condition. In other words, if your body is sick, it will be brought back to a place of wholeness or health.
Restore can be found in several verses of the Bible. Here are a few of my favorites.
O Lord, by these things men live; And in all these things is the life of my spirit; So, You will restore me and make me live. (Is 38:16)
For I will restore health to you and heal you of your wounds, says the Lord. (Jer 30:17)
So, I will restore to you the years that the swarming locust has eaten, The crawling locust, the consuming locust, and the chewing locust, My great army which I sent among you. (Joel 2:25)
Return to the stronghold, You prisoners of hope. Even today I declare That I will restore double to you. (Zech 9:12)
In the KJV it says, “no one saith restore.” Saith means to say, to answer, to say in one’s heart, to think, and to command.
I don’t know about you but I can certainly say I haven’t been crying out restore as it is described in this scripture. Could that be what God is telling us to do? Is He waiting for us to say something, declare a word, command a promise?
This I know for certain. God works with our words. Our life follows our words. Life and death are in the power of the tongue. God created the whole world with words backed up by Holy Spirit. We have the power and ability to do the same thing.
When we are declaring the word of God, the Holy Spirit backs up our words. They will not return void; they will accomplish all they are sent to accomplish. God has made promises in His word of restoration. We have a God-given right, because of the blood of Jesus and His sacrifice to cry out, to command restoration. We have a right to cry out RESTORE!
This has pierced my heart today. I feel God is telling us to cry out for what we want. Especially if it is restoration. It is up to us. God has done all He needs to do. Jesus has done all He can. Holy Spirit is waiting for your words.
I love this scripture in Daniel 10:12.
Then he said to me, “Do not fear, Daniel, for from the first day that you set your heart to understand, and to humble yourself before your God, your words were heard; and I have come because of your words.”
Think about that my friends, from the first time we pray, our words are heard and promises are fulfilled because of our words. What words are you speaking? If God sent ministering angels today looking for words of faith, words of restoration, would they hear those words from you?
The Bible says God is searching across the earth for someone to show Himself strong on their behalf, are we one of those? I don’t know about you, but I intend to be one of those today. I will be crying out “restore, restore” until I see every single thing in my life restored back the place Jesus died to bring it to.
That is my prayer for you and for me this day! May God restore and may He restore double, just as He says.
