My favorite place to sit and read my bible is on my back porch swing. These days I must do that early in the morning to avoid the stifling heat.
That’s what I was doing this morning when I noticed something unusual.
I have shared with you before how I can hear the rain coming before it gets to my property. It always, always comes from the left of me. From the south. That’s how it has been for over 20 years. However, this morning as I was reading, a strong, steady wind began to blow. So much so that it kept blowing my hair in my face.
I stopped for a moment, closed my eyes and enjoyed the cool breeze. It was then that I noticed. This wind, this day was coming from a totally different direction. Instead of coming from the south of me, it was coming from the north of me.
Like a north wind that brings unexpected rain. (Prov 25:23)
As I read this scripture, I couldn’t help but remember just last week when the Lord said, “I am bringing rain.” The north wind is the precursor to the rain, and it is blowing now.
I began to look through the bible concerning the wind and what it brings forth.
We see in Ezekiel 37, where the wind blew on dry, dead bones and they came back to life.
In Genesis 1, the Holy Spirit wind hovered over the waters as God spoke our world into existence.
In the book of Acts, we are all familiar with the Holy Spirit’s arrival as a mighty, rushing wind.
The Holy Spirit is often spoken of as a wind. But not just any wind. A wind that is invisible, yet powerful. A wind that is life-giving and transformative. A wind that is mysterious yet empowering and an absolute divine part of God’s plan for all of us.
As I sat on my back porch, listening to God speak to my heart, here is what I felt He was saying.
There are some things coming, from a direction you don’t expect, an unusual direction. These things will be good and refreshing as they are powered by Holy Spirit. You may not see which way they come from, but they are powerful. They will empower and they are a part of God’s divine plan for you and your ministry.
That being said, I don’t believe this was not only for me but for those who believe and receive this word. If that is you, I believe it is for you too.
I believe God is saying to us today. The wind of the Spirit is now blowing. It may be coming from a direction that you don’t expect. But it is going to touch your life. You may not see it coming, it may be invisible. But it will be powerful. It will be life giving. It will be transformative. It is a part of God’s divine plan for you. As well as all those things that pertain to you. God will perfect all that concerns you.
If it matters to you. It matters to God. He has a plan to make everything right in your life, to bring total restoration. He has a good plan for you. The winds of the Spirit have begun to blow. Bringing life where there has been death. Bringing joy where there has been hopelessness. Bringing healing where there has been infirmity. Bringing peace where there has been confusion. The wind of the Spirit is blowing. I pray you catch that wind.
Remember, the wind is often the precursor to the rain. Let the wind blow! Let the rain flow. This we ask and believe, in Jesus name.
