There are some lessons God has taught me that return to my mind over and again. In word and deed is one of those lessons. I hear those words and know exactly what God is talking about and what to do.
I think of it each month when I receive magazines filled with anointed articles from different ministries.
I am often taken back to the day I picked up one to read, and the Lord asked me a question. He said, “In word or deed?”
It was several years ago. I was reading one of these magazines, and God said, “Do you enjoy that?”
“Yes!” I said. I went on to pray a blessing over that ministry. He said, “You are to bless them, you are receiving the blessing, you know it takes money to send these out, you are in ministry, bless them for blessing you, not in word only, but with your actions….in deed.”
These monthly magazines are a blessing to me; I genuinely enjoy them. I thank God for them and am grateful for the ministries that send them to me free of charge. I pray for these organizations as well. However, on that particular day, I felt that God was communicating something different to me. Merely being thankful and praying was not enough.
Since that day, I have blessed them not only in words but also in deeds. They faithfully sow into my life, and I faithfully sow into theirs.
Some ministries serve people every single day because it is their passion. God’s Word teaches us that we should give back to them. We should not continually take without giving in return—this is not in line with God’s way. A person who constantly takes and never gives back will not prosper.
Galatians 6:10 says, Let us not grow weary in well-doing, for in due time we will reap a harvest, if we do not give up. Therefore, as we have opportunity, let us do good to everyone, and especially to the family of faith.
Today, God spoke to me about the importance of blessing those who continually bless me. These ministries send out messages each day, week, or month that resonate with my spirit and touch my heart. The least I can do is show my appreciation by sending them a love offering.
1 John 3:18 says, My little children, let us not love in word, neither in tongue; but in deed and in truth.
This scripture beautifully emphasizes the importance of translating love into tangible actions. It reminds us that when someone invests their time, energy, or kindness into our lives, we should reciprocate with heartfelt gestures of our own. It’s a call to embody gratitude through thoughtful deeds—nurturing the bonds we share by giving back generously and with intention.
I love the way the New Living Bible says it; Dear children, let us stop just saying we love each other; let us really show it by our actions.
Show your appreciation through your actions. Friends, have you been blessed by someone? Has someone invested in your life without expecting anything in return? If so, take a moment to bless them today. Express your love through words, pray for them, and show your love through actions as well. Consider sending them a love offering to let them know that their generosity has not gone unnoticed and is truly appreciated. Show them your gratitude through your actions today.
I often find myself reflecting on the elderly veteran who reached out to us one day, his voice tinged with desperation as he asked for food. In that moment, we could have turned to prayer, which would have been a noble act, or perhaps we could have shared the gospel with him, a gesture full of spiritual hope. Yet, what this weary man truly needed was nourishment for his body. He needed food.
We chose to demonstrate our love through tangible action, not just words. As we provided him with a warm meal, I could see the flicker of relief in his eyes, the weight of his struggles momentarily lifted. In that simple act of kindness, both his soul and body were rejuvenated, reminding us that sometimes the most profound blessings come not from a simple prayer, but from meeting the immediate needs of those around us.
As I take a moment to look over my life, I’m surrounded by countless individuals who generously share their warmth and kindness with me. Some send delightful magazines filled with inspiration, while others reach out through thoughtful emails that brighten my day. There are even those who call, their voices offering prayers that wrap around me like a comforting blanket. This outpouring of love and support fills my heart with gratitude, fueling a deep desire to reciprocate their kindness. Beyond this yearning, I recognize that giving back is a calling placed upon my heart by God. It’s a profound invitation to show love not only through kind words but also through tangible actions—love expressed in both word and deed.
The Scriptures tell us that we are blessed to be a source of blessing for others. Today, even if you feel overwhelmed and unable to see your own blessings, take a moment to look around you. You might be surprised at the abundance that surrounds you. Each of us carries the gift of something to share, whether it’s a kind word, a helping hand, or a listening ear. We are truly blessed, not just for ourselves but to radiate that blessing outward. Let us embrace this day with open hearts, striving to uplift those around us through our actions and our words. May we each become a beacon of hope and joy, spreading positivity wherever we go. And may we show the love of God daily – in word and in deeds.
Good word to bless others not just with words , but also needs. Often we say we will pray for people , but it is a pat answer and we move on. Excellent challenging word.
