One night as I was trying to go to sleep, one scripture kept going through my mind over and over. This scripture is found in Isaiah 55:10-12 – the part of it that kept running through my mind was, My word will not return void. I simply could not get that scripture off my mind.
Let’s take a look at that scripture.
For as the rain comes down, and the snow from heaven, And do not return there, But water the earth, And make it bring forth and bud, That it may give seed to the sower And bread to the eater, So shall My word be that goes forth from My mouth; It shall not return to Me void, But it shall accomplish what I please, And it shall prosper in the thing for which I sent it. “For you shall go out with joy, And be led out with peace; The mountains and the hills Shall break forth into singing before you, And all the trees of the field shall clap their hands.
This morning, as I meditated on this scripture it encouraged me greatly.
First of all, it is just like rain falls down and waters the earth. In other words, if rain falls it will absolutely water the earth; there is no way that rain can fall without watering what it falls on. It is impossible. In that same manner, the Word of God, when it is spoken will absolutely produce something. It is impossible for it to fail to produce what it is sent for.
Think of the awesomeness of that. When you apply the Word of God to a situation, it must produce what it was sent for. It has no choice in the matter. Much like rain has no choice but to water where it is sent.
I also love how it says that it will give seed to the sower. The sent rain gives seed to the sower AND in the same manner, the Word of God will bring forth seed to the sower. Do you need seed to sow? Apply the Word of God and watch it rain down seed for you.
God has made us a promise; when his Word goes forth it will produce what it is sent for. Always. If He has spoken things to you, it will come to pass. If prophetic words have been spoken over you, if they were from God, they too will come to pass.
If you have areas in your life that you need to see drastic change, begin to speak the Word of God into those areas. Speak the Word of God over your body, over your family, over your finances, over your home; if you will diligently do this, you will see change.
The Word of God works. It does its job but it can’t do its job unless we apply it. Let me leave you with the New Living Translation of this verse today as you begin to apply His Word in your life.
The rain and snow come down from the heavens and stay on the ground to water the earth. They cause the grain to grow, producing seed for the farmer and bread for the hungry. It is the same with My word. I send it out, and it always produces fruit. It will accomplish all I want it to, and it will prosper everywhere I send it. You will live in joy and peace. The mountains and hills will burst into song, and the trees of the field will clap their hands!
Praise the Lord for His unfailing Word!!!
Amen! PRAISE THE LORD FOR HIS UNFAILING WORD
