I read a short, inspirational teaching the other day by Brandon Gray of Grays Plumbing. I thought it was so good that I wanted to share it with you today.

Whatsoever thy hand findeth to do, do it with thy might. (Eccl 9:10)

There’s something about seeing the equipment loaded, strapped down, and ready before daylight.

The work hasn’t even started yet, but preparation has.

A lot of our walk with God is the same way. We want God to use us when the big moment comes, but what are we doing to prepare ourselves before that moment?

Prayer prepares us.

Reading His Word prepares us.

Going through hard seasons prepares us.

Even some of the things we wish we had never experienced can teach us something God will later use.

You don’t wait until you’re standing in the ditch to figure out whether you brought the right equipment or machine.

And we shouldn’t wait until life falls apart to start seeking God.

Load up before you need it.

Put His Word in your heart now. Talk to Him now. Build your relationship with Him now. Then when the difficult day comes, and eventually it will, you won’t be scrambling around trying to find your faith.

You’ll already have it with you.

Prayer:

Lord, prepare me today for whatever is ahead. Help me stay close to You when things are good, not only when I’m struggling. Put Your Word in my heart, wisdom in my decisions, and strength in my spirit. Use everything I’ve been through to prepare me for what You’ve called me to do. Amen.

Thought for today: Don’t wait until you’re in the ditch to realize you left what you needed is back at the shop.

I have said many times, you cannot properly prepare for a storm in the midst of it. You must prepare for it ahead of time by doing just what Brandon suggested.

Storms are going to hit everyone – the more prepared we are when the enemy brings challenges into our lives, the more equipped we will be to walk through it in peace.

Perhaps today you do not have any challenges or storms in your life – that is great! However more than likely, a storm will come and when it does, God wants us ready to stand against the enemy in peace, just like Jesus did.

Stay prepared. Remain equipped. Walk through every day in peace – that is God’s will for us all.
