Several times in the past couple weeks, a phrase has come to mind, one I have not heard very often in the past 20 years or so. The phrase is the sprinkling of blood.
When I first became born again, I heard a lot of teaching about the blood of Jesus. I still have a book by Billye Brim on the Blood and the Glory – it is one of my all-time favorite books. Billye taught us to ‘make much of the blood of Jesus.’
Brother Norvel often taught on pleading the blood of Jesus. Kenneth Hagin Sr taught on the importance of the blood as well. It was one of the first things I heard taught consistently.
For that reason, most times, not every time, but most of the time when I get into a vehicle I pray and plead the blood of Jesus over the vehicle and my trip. It is a teaching that has stuck with me for many years.
Lately, the Lord has been reminding me of this powerful truth – there is power, power, wonder working power, in the blood of the Lamb. I keep hearing, “the sprinkling of the blood” in my spirit.
As I have mentioned, I have dealt with shingles for several weeks now, actually almost two months have passed since it first began. It hasn’t been fun. Most days it was miserable. I prayed each day, asking God to manifest the healing that already belongs to me – His answer to me last week was to remind me of the power of sprinkling the blood of Jesus.
A few days ago, I began to pray differently. I would pray in this manner;
“I sprinkle the blood of Jesus over my scalp, over my nerves, over every nerve ending. I sprinkle the blood of Jesus over my mind, my will and my emotions (because the sickness was causing me to feel weary), I sprinkle the blood of Jesus over my hair follicles, my ear and every area affected by shingles, I cover it entirely in the blood of Jesus.”
Did relief come instantly? No. But change began the moment I prayed. Think about Daniel when Gabriel came to him, the angel said; “Since the first word you prayed, I was sent with the answer.” That, my friend is truth.
It has been almost a week now of me sprinkling the blood of Jesus over every part of me affected by shingles and I can finally wash my hair without it being so painful tears run down my face. I can now brush my hair without the pain remaining for hours. And I can sleep on that side of my head for an hour or so each night, comfortably. I am seeing a difference.
There are so many things God has given us as weapons. So many powerful truths in the word of God. Some that are never picked up or engaged in our prayer time.
2 Corinthians 10:4 says; For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal but mighty in God for pulling down strongholds.
The weapons God has given us are for warfare – and they are MIGHTY in God AND they pull down strongholds.
This weapon, the sprinkling of the blood of Jesus, has been mighty for me this week. Let’s look at a few scriptures that speak of this subject.
By faith he kept the Passover and the sprinkling of blood, lest he who destroyed the firstborn should touch them. (Heb 11:28)
To Jesus the Mediator of the new covenant, and to the blood of sprinkling that speaks better things than that of Abel. (Heb 12:24)
Peter, an apostle of Jesus Christ, to the pilgrims of the Dispersion in Pontus, Galatia, Cappadocia, Asia, and Bithynia, elect according to the foreknowledge of God the Father, in sanctification of the Spirit, for obedience and sprinkling of the blood of Jesus Christ. (1 Peter 1:1-2)
The sprinkling of the blood of Jesus Christ, symbolizes the covenant we have with God through the blood of Jesus Christ. When we sprinkle the blood, we are applying the powerful truth that every single thing Jesus shed His blood for belongs to us through that covenant and it cannot be changed.
Healing is ours through His blood. Forgiveness is ours through His blood. Restoration is ours through that blood. Peace is ours through His precious blood. When we sprinkle the blood, we activate and come into agreement with these truths. We actively partner with Jesus and what belongs to us.
Life and death are in the power of our tongue – when we sprinkle His blood through our words, we release LIFE into the situation.
My friend, there is power in the blood of Jesus Christ, apply that power today to your situation and partner with God for your breakthrough. You will be so glad you did.
