God never ceases to amaze me.
I am always stunned by how much He cares about, not only the big challenges in our lives, but the little things as well. Let me share a story with you.
I was out of town, visiting friends and serving communion to a group of people. We do communion differently; it takes several hours to prepare our table for the King. We were rushing around, getting everything ready for more friends to arrive and partake of communion.
I had spent most of the day on my feet that day, my feet were tired. When I got ready for bed that night, I realized my feet were quite swollen from the day. I began to pray and ask God what had caused this. He reminded me of the foods I had eaten earlier that day that were high in sodium. He reminded me of how many hours I had stood of my feet – it all made sense. Still, it stayed on my mind as I tried to sleep that night.
I awoke early the next morning with my feet still on my mind when God began to speak to my heart. He spoke a familiar scripture to me. The scripture is found in Deuteronomy 33:25.
Thy shoes shall be iron and brass; and as thy days, so shall thy strength be.
It is a scripture I am familiar with and have confessed quite often. However, I didn’t know what it had to do with what I was dealing with. I looked at the scripture again in my Bible and realized it had a scripture reference, I turned to that scripture reference. It was located in Deuteronomy 8:4.
Now, here is the part that caused my mouth to drop. The scripture said…
Your garments did not wear out on you, nor did your foot swell these forty years. (Dt 8:4)
I sat there on the sofa stunned at this side of God who sees the individual and what is going on with them, no matter great or small. I have read my Bible many times and I don’t ever remember reading this verse – I do not recall a scripture that said their foot didn’t swell for 40 years!
I pondered that scripture over and over. I was still sitting there amazed at how much God cares about me when my friends awoke and came into the living room a while later.
God is no respecter of persons, if He does it for one, He will certainly do it for another. He intentionally led me to that verse to show me exactly what His desire for me was concerning what was on my mind that very day.
I can say this; I have prayed this verse since that day, and I have not had issues with swollen feet again. Yes, I watch what I eat and give my feet rest, but I also rest in the promise that God can do anything, even cause our feet not to swell if we walk on them for 40 years – isn’t that good news?!
I have found that we simply allow, and don’t resist, many things that the Bible says we are redeemed from. This was one of those – but God in His faithfulness led me exactly to what I needed to see that very day, for that very purpose.
Dear friend, I don’t know what you are facing today, but this I do know, without question. God cares about every little thing about you and your family. If you will just seek His face concerning your situation, He will happily lead you to the answer. He will show you what His will is in your situation – what His desire is for you. That truth, His truth, will begin to set you free from whatever you are facing.
He loves you so very much! He wants you to walk in His fulness – His wholeness – His freedom that He sent His precious Son to this earth to provide. Begin today to resist those things that are not of God and begin to walk in all that belongs to you through the shed blood of Jesus Christ. It’s time, lean into Him and walk in His promises. They are yours for the taking.
