The phrase ‘heavens rain’ has been on my mind for a few weeks now. I first heard the words when a man I had hired to repair something at my house made the statement.
He was looking at my garden. He said, “Wow, your garden is doing great!” I responded, “Yes, I believe it was the rain we had this week.” He went on to comment, “Yes, isn’t it amazing. You can water your vegetables with the water hose every single day for an entire month and they will grow a half an inch. But when they get heavens rain, they explode in growth.”
Heavens rain. I love that. He’s not wrong. Plants don’t do well with the water that comes from the city or county. However, when it rains, it is very different. Something in that rain, heavens rain, causes the vegetables or flowers to grow exponentially.
It reminds me of something God once said to me. It has been many years ago, He said, “the way you gain a thing is the way you must maintain that thing.”
He meant, if we gain something from God or from standing in faith, faith and trust in God will sustain that thing – but if we gain something through works or toil, it will take toil and works to maintain it.
Proverbs 10:22 says, The blessing of the Lord, it maketh rich, and he addeth no sorrow with it.
The Amplified says it like this. The blessing of the Lord—it makes [truly] rich, and He adds no sorrow with it [neither does toiling increase it].
Another translation says it this way.
God’s blessing is the source of genuine wealth and fulfillment, not human striving or toil.
I have always been a hard worker. If I want something I can make it happen. However, I have learned over the years that if I make it happen in my own strength, I will have to maintain it in my own strength.
On the other hand, if I seek the face of God for what I need and do things His way – He will maintain it for me. What we get by faith will be maintained by our continual trust in God alone.
I just love that AND that reminds me of heavens rain.
What comes from God has something attached to it that can never be matched by the flesh. Just like the rain that comes down from heaven has something in it that can not be found in the water that comes from the ways of man.
I don’t know what you are needing in your life today but this I do know, God has a way of providing all our needs if we simply look to Him. Now, that doesn’t mean we won’t have to work for it. That doesn’t mean we sit and wait for it to happen. It DOES mean you must first seek the face of God and seek His word. Get your direction from Him. Get your wisdom and instruction from Him and then do what He says to do. What comes through Him can be maintained by Him.
Whatever it is you have need of today, I pray heaven’s rain begins to fall upon you and nourish whatever you are seeking God for. I pray a multiplication takes place that you can’t even imagine. I pray His wisdom and direction come to you quickly and easily and lead you into all your seek – even this day, in Jesus name.
