Thursday morning, I was sitting in my office working on my daily writings. I was alone, nothing major was happening, I was simply writing. I glanced over at my prayer wall when the Lord spoke to me.
He said, “I am sending rain.” When He spoke those words I could almost see and feel the rain falling in my office. Suddenly, I felt the tangible presence of God fill the room. It was awesome.
I had to search for the song, Let it Rain, and play it a few dozen times then I began to look up scripture on when God sends rain. Each scripture I found linked rain with blessings. Let’s take a look at some of them.
Then I will give you your rains in their season, and the land shall yield its increase, and the trees of the field shall yield their fruit. (Lev 26:4) (Rain brings increase)
Ask rain from the Lord in the season of the spring rain, from the Lord who makes the storm clouds, and he will give them showers of rain, to everyone the vegetation in the field. (Zech 10:1) (We must ask for rain)
Then he prayed again, and heaven gave rain, and the earth bore its fruit. (James 5:18) (Fruit comes with rain)
For as the rain and the snow come down from heaven and do not return there but water the earth, making it bring forth and sprout, giving seed to the sower and bread to the eater. (Is 55:10) (Rain provides seed and bread)
He will give the rain for your land in its season, the early rain and the later rain, that you may gather in your grain and your wine and your oil. (Dt 11:14) (Rain brings harvest)
Be glad, O children of Zion, and rejoice in the Lord your God, for he has given the early rain for your vindication; he has poured down for you abundant rain, the early and the latter rain, as before. (Joel 2:23) (Rain brings vindication)
Shower, O heavens, from above, and let the clouds rain down righteousness; let the earth open, that salvation and righteousness may bear fruit; let the earth cause them both to sprout; I the Lord have created it. (Is 45:8) (Rain brings down righteousness and salvation or deliverance)
The Lord will open to you his good treasury, the heavens, to give the rain to your land in its season and to bless all the work of your hands. And you shall lend to many nations, but you shall not borrow. (Deut 28:12) (Rain comes from His good treasury, bringing blessing)
And I will make them and the places all around my hill a blessing, and I will send down the showers in their season; they shall be showers of blessing. (Ez 34:26) (Showers of blessing come through rain)
Each scripture links rain with blessing and GOD SAID, “I am sending rain.”
My friend, I want to leave you with one last verse – oh, I know, today’s writing was different but I strongly feel it is a word from the Lord.
How do we experience this rain? Ask for it. Expect it and do as this final scripture says – it is time to seek the Lord, that He may rain righteousness upon us – upon us and our family. Seek the Lord and get out your spiritual umbrella – He is sending rain.
Sow for yourselves righteousness; reap steadfast love; break up your fallow ground, for it is the time to seek the Lord, that he may come and rain righteousness upon you. (Hosea 10:12)
This is so good! I have my umbrella out, I’m ready for rain!
