It was early one morning; I was sitting on my back porch. I’ve only been able to sit on the porch early in the mornings recently because the temperature has been over 95 for weeks. It has been blistering hot. Much too hot to enjoy days swinging on the back porch.

As I sat there, swinging on my porch swing, I realized this time felt like the heated summer that would never end. I keep hoping that the high nineties will cool a bit and begin to bring some relief – that hasn’t happened yet and we are nearing the end of August.

However, in my spirit, I felt something quite different. I felt strongly that the seasons were indeed changing. One season was ending and another season was beginning. Perhaps not in the natural but definitely in the spirit realm.

I noted in that moment that often it feels like spiritual seasons will never end, yet suddenly they change and you walk into a new time in God. What I mean by that is you may be going through a challenging time financially and feel like you will never get a break.

Maybe you are facing a time of health issues and no matter what you do, nothing seems to change. It may feel like things will never get better and you will have to endure this season forever.

Perhaps your children are going in a direction that you don’t like and you think they may never change. All these things feel like seasons that go on forever, just like our blistering summer this year.

Yet seasons always change. Especially if we are trusting God. The day does come when things begin to change. Sometimes suddenly.

In the physical world, we often notice signs when the seasons are about to change. When Fall season is approaching the temperature begins to change. Leaves begin to fall. The colors are beautiful and vibrant. In this we know Summer is turning to Fall. The same when Winter turns to Spring. We begin to have warmer days. Flowers begin to bloom all around. Hummingbirds come back. Trees begin to fill out. In this we know, Spring has come.

It’s not always that easy to know when seasons change in the spirit. However, they do change. The Bible tells us there is different seasons in our lives.

To everything there is a season,
A time for every purpose under heaven
. (Eccl 3:1)

As I said, there are signs when seasons are changing in the natural world – it is not always that way in the spirit. To feel a change of seasons in the spirit, for me at least, I have always had to stay tuned into God and His word.

I get a sense in my spirit of the truth that something is about to change. That one season is coming to a close and a new one is beginning. Then, I begin to pray and ask God if there is anything I need to do to partner with the changing season.

One thing I have learned to be truth. The way you leave one season is the way you will enter into the new season. Therefore, you must leave your season in peace. Fight if you must, to leave it in peace and faith.

When God is about to move you into a new season, the enemy will often come with things to hinder you or distract you. Things like offense, unforgiveness and anger. Refuse to partner with Him. Keep your peace. Hold your tongue. Continue to trust God.

The Bible says the little foxes come to spoil the vine – that means they show up when harvest is ripe – remember that.

My friend, one thing I know, the seasons are changing. Get ready for all the good things our God has in store for you. Leave this season in peace, trust and faith and enter into the goodness of God being poured out continually in your life. To God be all the glory.
