My sweet little Mama is 84 years old. She has more energy than anyone I know. She is always busy, moving and shaking. Her husband and her plant a garden each year. Not a small garden. They plant enough of a garden to feed several families.
Last year, he dealt with some health issues therefore after the garden was planted, he was in the hospital several times, so they were never able to harvest their garden. Frankly, I was hoping they wouldn’t attempt a garden this year – but they did. One day, I took her around to a few garden centers to get her seeds and plants and she put them in the ground.
A few weeks later, I was talking to her on the phone. She informed me they were out buying more plants and seeds. When I questioned why she was doing this, she responded that their plants weren’t doing good, so they were going to plant again.
I said, “Mom, why don’t you just get your vegetables at the farmers market this year? It would be much less work and wouldn’t really cost any more either?”
She quickly responded, “No, we are going to plant again.” I tried one more time to convince her to take the easier route, to which she responded several times, “No, we are going to plant again.”
That day, I couldn’t get those words off my mind. Plant again. It rolled over and over in my heart and mind that day.
I thought of the scripture found in Galatians 6:7.
Galatians 6:7 says Do not be deceived, God is not mocked; for whatever a man sows, that he will also reap.
The Amplified says it like this.
For whatever a man sows, that and that only is what he will reap. (Amp)
What you sow and only what you sow, you will reap. This is a Biblical principle.
I began to think about the many times I have sown seed and not yet seen a harvest. The Bible is clear, if we sow, we will reap. Just because I haven’t yet seen my harvest, doesn’t mean it isn’t coming forth.
So, back to my Mom. For several years, she did the same thing. She planted seed or plants and if they seem to not be doing well within a couple weeks, she will plant again. What happened is that they ended up with much more harvest than they knew what to do with. Those plants that seemed to not be producing, would begin producing after a while and because she planted again, she had twice as much.
So, what was God saying to me that day? I believe He was telling me to plant again. In areas where I had not yet seen a harvest, plant again.
Whether it is the word of God I am planting or financial seeds – take the opportunity to plant again. If I want a great harvest, or a long producing harvest, plant again.
This I have learned, God is always speaking, always directing, always leading us in the way He wants us to go. For me, I believe He is saying, plant again. Don’t become discouraged in what you haven’t yet seen, just keep planting. Keep sowing. Know that whatever you sow, that will you reap. Trust the process. Trust His promises. Trust His faithfulness. For He is indeed faithful.
And having done all, get ready to harvest for harvest season shall surely come.
