Have you ever had things that did not go as planned?
I have. This week, I had two things that didn’t go as I had planned or imagined, yet the outcome remained a blessing to me.
I shared with you yesterday how my vehicle search didn’t turn out as planned, yet it was a blessing to both me and the salesman.
The following day another unexpected blessing came my way…but not the way I prayed for or planned.
If you have been with us long, you know I have been standing in faith for land, enough land to have a nice, big garden each year. This has not manifested as of yet.
However, I have been able to build some planting beds and plant most of what I want each year. Most, but not all.
I have not made room to plant enough potatoes to put up for winter.
Each year I drive up the mountain, purchase about 10 boxes of potatoes and put them up for winter. They supply me, my Mom and my daughter through most of winter. I have so wanted to grow my own and put them up.
After I returned home from searching for a vehicle my Mom called. She said, “Kim, Russell said if you want, he will get you two rows ready to plant potatoes in his garden.”
“Really?!” I exclaimed.
It appears God made the way where there seemed to be no way. It wasn’t the way I asked for, nor the way I planned, but the results are the same.
It is not as convenient. I will have to drive there to take care of them and dig them when they are ready. Nevertheless, I have seed in the ground.
The following day I purchased potatoes, cut them and put them in the ground. And I am thankful.
The thing I am seeing this week is this…things may not work out the way we thought or planned, but they work out if we will continue to trust God.
Things may not happen right when we need them to, like with a vehicle, but I will continue to have patience and trust God. It will work out.
Philippians 4:12-13 says; I know what it is to be in need, and I know what it is to have plenty. I have learned the secret of being content in any and every situation, whether well fed or hungry, whether living in plenty or in want. I can do all this through him who gives me strength.
The man of God says, “I have learned the secret of being content in every situation.”
Contentment is a secret power for the believer. One we must learn.
One of my favorite scriptures is found in James 1:4. But let patience have its perfect work, that you may be perfect and complete, lacking nothing.
If we remain content, regardless of what is happening or not happening, we are allowing patience to work in us. When we do that, we have a promise. Perfection, completeness and lacking nothing.
My friend, that is a good promise. That is a God-Outcome!
It may not happen as you planned. It may not take place when you plan for it to, or even when you believe it needs to. But if you continue to trust God, remain content and allow patience to work in you, you will see the promise fulfilled. You have His word on it.
