I had just finished the audio partner prayer for the week, when the Lord spoke to my heart.
He said, “If my people are going to see victory, prayer must make a comeback.”
I thought that was an odd comment since I had just finished praying – but at the same time, I knew what kind of prayer He was speaking of.
The Bible is clear, prayer is something we must do. I know many people who don’t pray through the week. They don’t seek God until Sunday church service comes around. They pray as the pastor prays, but those people do not walk in victory in their life. If we are going to see victory, we must become people of prayer.
Rejoice always, pray continually, give thanks in all circumstances; for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus.(1 Thess 5:16-18)
Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus. (Phil 4:6-7)
Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you. (Mt 7:7-8)
Be joyful in hope, patient in affliction, faithful in prayer. (Rom 12:12)
We have all heard the stories about the generations before us who ‘prayed through’ or in other words, they prayed until they saw the answer come to pass. I don’t see a lot of that today, and I am talking about myself as well.
Another thing I have noticed, is our prayer often consist only of praying for OUR needs, and there is nothing wrong with praying about our needs, God tells us to. However, we must also be praying about a closer relationship with God. We must also cry out to God to remove anything from us that would hinder our walk with Him. We must be praying for MORE of Him and more of His presence in our lives and in our family. Some of our prayer time must be God focused and not only focused on our present need. He wants to know us. He wants us to want more of Him. That’s His hearts cry. That His kingdom would come in our lives – then, all we have need of will be added to us.
I pray. I pray daily, but I want to become a person who is passionate about prayer and prays until I see something every single time. That is what has been happening to me this week, in a more consistent way. God has had me sending out numerous audio prayers to those around me. The anointing is increasing in my prayer life as I am doing this. I can physically feel it as I pray.
I love what Matthew 6 says, But when you pray, go into your room, close the door and pray to your Father, who is unseen; then your Father, who sees what is done in secret, will reward you. (Mt 6:6)
When we pray, THEN and only THEN, our Father, who sees and hears our prayers, will reward us. I believe this! Don’t you?! The Bible says our prayers are powerful.
Therefore, confess your sins to each other and pray for each other so that you may be healed. The prayer of a righteous person is powerful and effective. (James 5:16)
I love how the Amplified Bible says it:
The earnest (heartfelt, continued) prayer of a righteous man makes tremendous power available [dynamic in its working].
Our prayers are full of tremendous power, dynamic in their working. Here’s the question. Do we believe that? I would think if we did, we would spend more time in prayer.
What is your prayer life like? Do you pray faithfully as Romans 12 says? Or do you pray for a while and when you don’t see an answer, do you give up? Or pray less? If so, that is what the enemy is hoping for. He knows better than anyone that your prayers are powerful. He knows God is listening for your voice. He knows, if you keep praying, God will openly reward you.
Do you want to see victory in your family? Then prayer, must make a comeback.
