e devil walks around seeking whom he may devour.
Most of us are familiar with this scripture. It is the very scripture that came to mind as Kelita shared a story with me from her past. Allow me to share it with you today.
Kelita recounted how her and a friend has traveled to another city. She shared how just before bed they heard a lot of noise outside. As they prayed, they sensed it was a demoniac outside their door. They felt strongly that he was there with an evil intent. They kept hearing voices saying ‘let’s go! Let’s go!’ Therefore, before they went to bed, they prayed and covered their house in the blood of Jesus.
A few days later, they saw on the news that a man entered a home nearby where they were staying and killed three women. This happened shortly after all the noise they had heard.
Kelita then made a statement that hit my spirit in a powerful way. She said, ‘we felt like that thing had an assignment that night and kept on until he found an open door.’
1 Peter 5:8, in the Amplified says; Be sober, well balanced and self-disciplined, be alert and cautious at all times. That enemy of yours, the devil, prowls around like a roaring lion fiercely, hungry, seeking someone to devour.
The Message Bible says it like this; Keep a cool head. Stay alert. The Devil is poised to pounce, and would like nothing better than to catch you napping. Keep your guard up.
Just as in Kelita’ s story, the enemy is looking for an open door.
If we keep ourselves and our family covered in the blood, the enemy can’t cross the blood line. He cannot get in unless we allow him to…through an open door…leave NO open doors.
As we have discussed earlier this week, there are many things that open the door to the enemy, one being unforgiveness. I have a sign in my office that says, ‘forgive everyone everything.’ Simple but true, we must practice walking in forgiveness always. Leave no door open to the enemy.
There are other things that open a door to the enemy; anger, bitterness, fear, worry, anxiety, stubbornness, unbelief and negative thoughts.
When the word says we must be diligent because the devil is seeking someone to devour, we need to remember to not allow him to find an open door for entrance into our lives. Leave no open doors.
The last thing I want to mention is another open door. When we fail to honor God with our finances, we leave an open door for the enemy to attack our finances.
God’s word is truth. If we are wise to the enemy’s tactics and diligent to stay in the word of God and prayer, and keep our hearts clean and pure before God, then and only then we can be assured there will not be doors open to the enemy.
Then if the enemy tries to attack, he has no ground to stand on, he will not find an open door in our life and will have to move on.
It’s like the story with Kelita, the enemy has an assignment and he won’t stop until he finds a way to complete that assignment…as for us…we will keep the door closed to him and the blood over our homes and properties.
Remember the children of Israel, the destroyer could not cross the blood line, that is even more true today as we cover our homes, our families and our finances in the shed blood of Jesus Christ!
There is power, power, wonder working power in the blood of the Lamb! Let’s join together and keep that precious and powerful blood over our doors and leave no door open to the enemy.
Prayer for Today: Thank you Father, for the blood of Jesus. We place that powerful blood over the doors of our life today, over our family, over our finances. We thank you that there are no open doors to the enemy. We repent of any unforgiveness, anger, bitterness, and all other things that may cause open doors to the enemy, forgive us Lord. We close every door to the enemy and seal it with the blood of Jesus Christ. Thank you again, for the blood of Jesus. This we pray, in Jesus name, Amen.
