When God considers your life, your heart, does He see faith? When He observes our actions, does He see faith?
I was thinking about this over the weekend as I meditated on a scripture found in Matthew.
Matthew 9:2 says; And, behold, they brought to him a man sick of the palsy, lying on a bed: and Jesus seeing their faith said unto the sick of the palsy; Son, be of good cheer;
Jesus SAW their faith with HIS EYES. It wasn’t something He discerned or perceived in His heart, it was something He saw with His physical eyes.
These men believed with their whole heart that Jesus would heal their friend, they simply had to get the friend to Jesus, and they did. They put action to their faith and their prayers were answered as Jesus say their faith.
James 2:18-22 says; But someone will say, “You have faith, and I have works.” Show me your faith without your works, and I will show you my faith by my works. You believe that there is one God. You do well. Even the demons believe–and tremble! But do you want to know, O foolish man, that faith without works is dead? Was not Abraham our father justified by works when he offered Isaac his son on the altar? Do you see that faith was working together with his works, and by works faith was made perfect?
In this scripture, the word ‘works’ is defined as an action, a deed or a thing done. Therefore, we see that there is often a corresponding action to our faith.
As I studied this I thought about several times in the Bible when faith was seen with the physical eye.
Abraham’s faith was seen when he offered Isaac.
The widow woman’s faith was seen when she gave the prophet her last meal.
The children of Israel’s faith was seen when they placed the blood upon their doorposts.
Elisha’s faith was seen when he refused to leave Elijah and eventually saw him leave earth.
The woman who sowed the widow’s mite, her faith was seen also.
David’s faith was seen when he went against Goliath.
Repeatedly, we see where their faith was seen. And it didn’t stop there, when they put works with their faith, they saw the promise fulfilled every single time.
Today, I ask you again, does God see your faith? Have you put actions to your faith with something that can be seen with the eye? Are you pressing in, not only with faith, but with works also?
I want to be a person whose faith is seen. I believe you do too. It is my prayer today that each of us will have a faith that is seen. Seen with the natural eye as we add actions to our faith. AMEN.
