My heart leapt as I read the headline: Mayor Proclaims Day of Fasting and Prayer. Excitement bubbled up in me as I remembered the prophetic word from Hank Kunneman; he shared earlier this year that God declared this time to be a decade of difference for the people of God.
Is God fulfilling this word?
We read in Exodus 9 and 10 where God made a difference concerning His people. Plague after plague ravished Pharaoh, but they did not touch God’s people in Goshen.
Yet, I still wondered, why are some cities like Fort Worth and Dallas, Texas, seeing different responses to the climate in the earth right now? And there are other cities making prayer their line of defense against the virus and the violence. What’s the key?
Karen Hardin and I launched the City-by-City.org strategy three weeks ago after we prayed and asked the Lord how we can take back our nation.
As I look over those who have registered to pray for their cities, I have seen that people are signing up in droves in Texas to pray. Is that the difference?
2 Chronicles 7:14 states, If My people who are called by My name will humble themselves, and pray and seek My face, and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin and heal their land.
We, the praying people, have a part to play in this decade of difference.
It’s not enough to just hear a prophetic word. We cannot allow it to end there. We must pray into that word if we are ever to see it come to pass. We must take that word and war with it.
Paul instructs Timothy in 1 Timothy 1:18-19, “So Timothy, my son, I am entrusting you with this responsibility, in keeping with the very first prophecies that were spoken over your life, and are now in the process of fulfillment in this great work of ministry, in keeping with the prophecies spoken over you. With this encouragement use your prophecies as weapons as you wage spiritual warfare by faith and with a clean conscience. For there are many who reject these virtues and are now destitute of the true faith.”
We are to receive these prophecies from seasoned, accurate prophets and consequently, war with them, just as the Bible says.
Fervent and consistent prayer is the beginning of the change we desire to see in our cities and our nation.
It’s not going to just fall in our lap and happen. No! We have a part to play.
In this season of a decade of difference, the difference will begin one place. In prayer. It’s time to seek the face of God like never before. It’s time to take back our nation, one prayer at a time.
