As Long As…

As I shared yesterday, last week was filled with challenges. As the weekend approached, I looked forward to a time of resting and spending time in the presence of my Lord. That was my plan.

However, Saturday morning I was praying and worshipping God when my phone rang. I didn’t answer it at first. I did look to see who was calling. It turned out it was the same person as some of the issues from the week before. So, I felt I had to call them back – which I did. My mind went from spending time with God to the situation that now had to be dealt with without delay.

Later that night, exhausted, I fell into bed. As I did, the Lord spoke a verse to me, found in 2 Chronicles 26:5.

And as long as he sought the Lord, God made him prosper. (2 Chron 26:5)

Monday morning came and I did a word search on the word, sought.

According to the Strongs Concordance, it means to resort to, to seek, enquire, to seek God in prayer and worship, to tread or frequent, to pursue, specifically to worship.

I shared with you earlier last week how God led me to worship three times a day. It seemed God was instructing me to continue in those precious times in His presence. For there, (in His presence) and there alone, would I prosper.

To prosper is defined as; to advance, make progress, succeed, be profitable, to prosper, to make prosperous, bring to successful issue, cause to prosper, to show or experience prosperity.

Many times, in the Bible there are conditions to be met before we experience the fulness of the blessings of God. This is very possibly one of those.

There are several as long as found in scripture. Here are just a few.

As long as he sought the Lord, God made him to prosper. (2 Chron 26:5)

We are kept in perfect peace as long as our mind is stayed upon God. (Is. 26:3)

As long as we sow we will reap. (Mk 4, Luke 8)

This is telling us as long as we do one thing – God will do the other thing. It is entirely up to us. The problem comes when we begin in faith and falter along the way OR stop doing what we began to do at the leading of the Lord.

During my first week of worshipping three times a day, God began to give me breakthrough in certain areas. However, as those breakthroughs came, resistance came. Distractions came. Chaos tried to come to draw my focus off God and worshipping Him. I had to press into God even stronger – then – exhaustion began to come. By the weekend I was weary. That is when God spoke the scripture to me from 2 Chronicles 26.

As long as he sought the Lord, God made him to prosper.

As long as I continue to worship and press into God, He will continue to bring breakthrough and cause me to prosper and succeed. If I quit, the breakthroughs may stop. My focus will fall on the distractions the enemy is sending my way. Then, wavering will probably take place. He who wavers will receive nothing from the Lord.

God was warning me and instructing me to stay on the path He had set me on. It reminds me of a scripture I love.

Look for the old path where the good way is, there you will find rest for your soul. (Jer 6:16)

My friend, if God has given you instruction – or a path to begin, don’t allow distractions or chaos to take your eyes off Him. Continue on the path He has placed you on. Continue until you see the fulness of breakthrough. The completion of what God has promised you. The total manifestation of the Word of God in your life. Whatever it is you are pressing in for, don’t stop until you see it in its completion and fulness.

The generation before me called it ‘praying through.’ Don’t stop until you are through. All the way through.

As long as you do what He is leading you to do, He will do the rest. You can trust Him. You have His Word on it.
