A few days ago, I shared a prophetic word God had given me many years ago. I also shared how to increase your capacity to receive. While all that is true – that night God reminded me of something that played a vital role in that season.
That night, after writing that article, I laid down to go to sleep, but sleep eluded me as God took me back to that time in my life. It felt as if I literally walked through those days again in my mind. I could see everything I was doing and two things stuck out to me.
First of all, the faith I had in God at that time was different. It was quiet and fully persuaded. As I mentioned a few days ago, at the time I was in a season of great financial lack. However, I didn’t focus on that, I seemed, instead, to go about my days in total peace. I knew God was with me and would take care of me. I had no doubts. It was a peaceful time amid the lack, which sounds odd.
Secondly, worship was the focus of that time. I spent hours worshipping God. It was during that time that God would wake me up in the middle of the night and say, “Come, worship me.” I would rise out of bed and go into my living room, get on my knees and begin to worship. I can’t really explain it but I always knew when God was satisfied or pleased with my worship. When that moment came, I would get up and go back to bed. This went on for a few months with God awakening me every few nights. Honestly, at the time, I didn’t even think a lot about it. I did not realize what was happening in the spirit as I obeyed His prompting to worship. I do now realize worship was the reason I was able to walk in such peace.
Things were happening in the spirit each time I worshipped God. In just a few weeks everything in my life changed. God blessed me beyond my imagination. While that was awesome, it wasn’t the best part of that season – not by a long shot.
The very best part of that season was the manifest presence of God. After many nights of worship, God’s presence saturated my home. He came and made His abode there. So much so that people would tell me they had to sit down when they first walked through the door to acclimate to the atmosphere. Pastors and preachers, I knew began to come around, notebook in hand, asking me what I did to cause God to show up like that.
Last night as I pondered on this season, I knew God was showing me that it wasn’t just the things I shared with you before to increase your capacity to receive, it was the worship that brought Him into my home and when He came, His reward was with Him. Just like the word of God says.
It’s funny, not too long ago, I was talking with someone I had met at church. I asked them this question; “Are you a worshipper?” They wouldn’t answer me. Over a few days I asked that question a few times, with no answer. It seemed that question offended them. I couldn’t understand why. I think I do understand now. I believe we are created to worship God and when we don’t and are confronted with that question, it touches something deep inside us.
So, I ask you this question today. Are you a worshipper? Do you spend intimate times with God? Do you take the time to worship Him, not only at church, but in the privacy of your home? What atmosphere is in your home?
If the answer is no, it’s easy to begin. I would start by playing worship music throughout your home. Twenty-four seven if possible. Put it on repeat. It will set an atmosphere in your home that is conducive for worship. Start there. Then, when you feel the prompting of God to come aside and worship Him, obey. It’s that simple.
This I can say. The fruit of worship is great! When God finds pleasure in your worship, He will move heaven and earth on your behalf. I know, I saw Him do just that.
“Come worship me.” Such an intimate call. ❤️
Thank you for sharing this. So beautiful.
