And after the earthquake a fire, but the Lord was not in the fire; and after the fire a still small voice. (I Ki 19:12)
I want to share a couple of things with you this morning. First of all, God recently reminded me of a book by Judy Jacobs called Take it by Force.
He prompted me to read one particular chapter that dealt with a spirit of prevention. I had never heard of this spirit, although it makes perfect sense. Judy shared how God revealed to her that it was hindering her prayers from coming through. He instructed her to deal with it and get rid of it. She followed God’s instructions, and the answer to her prayer manifested.

As I thought about this, I began to consider our spiritual state. I don’t believe we are in labor any longer, but in delivery. As I thought about this, I remembered being in the delivery room with my daughter when she had Bryson. It was chaos.
Chaos is defined as confusion and disorder. That is exactly what was going on.
There were two or three doctors in there, as well as a half a dozen nurses. Everyone was doing something different, and everyone was saying something different to Breanne. Commotion was going on all around her. Distractions were everywhere.
I noticed she began to look like a deer caught in the headlights. I quickly stepped up behind her head, and I placed my hands on each side of her face. I leaned in really close, and I began to talk to her. I told her what was going on and that everything was fine. I told her to lie still and stay calm and that Bryson would be here shortly.
This still, small voice seemed to bring calmness to her. She was able to stop being anxious and just listen to my voice. It was over in just a few moments, and she had a healthy little boy.
So, it is in this same place of delivery. There seems to be chaos everywhere. So much is going on at one time. Most of it…distractions. Their purpose is to keep your focus off God. Avoid all the distractions you can. I realize some things are things we must deal with daily – those you can’t avoid.
The key here is to learn to focus on that still, small voice, despite the chaos and distractions. Tune into that voice and listen. And stay calm.
Remember in the book of 1 Kings 19:12, God had come to deliver Elijah from the place he had escaped to. Suddenly, an earthquake came! Then a fire. But God was not in either of those. However, one thing proved to be the place that God could be found, in the still small voice. Elijah listened and heeded that voice.
That’s what you need to tune into during this time of the delivery of your miracle. Don’t look at the fire that will attempt to get your attention. Pay no attention to the shaking of quakes that are going on in your life—zero in on one thing. Focus on and give your full attention to that still, small voice. Listen to God and do whatever He says to do. He will cause delivery to come forth as you listen and obey.
Delivery will come. You will hold your miracle in your arms. I encourage you today, whatever is going on, to find a quiet place, get before the Lord, and listen for His voice. I promise you; He is speaking – listen and obey.
