Most of us are familiar with this story from the Bible. Jesus and the disciples were in the boat, attempting to go to the other side of the sea. Now, keep in mind, most of these were fishermen. They knew and fully understood weather. Had the weather looked as if storms were coming, they wouldn’t have been on that boat at all – they knew better. Keep that in mind. Scripture says:
On the same day, when evening had come, He said to them, “Let us cross over to the other side.” Now when they had left the multitude, they took Him along in the boat as He was. And other little boats were also with Him. And a great windstorm arose, and the waves beat into the boat, so that it was already filling. But He was in the stern, asleep on a pillow. And they awoke Him and said to Him, “Teacher, do You not care that we are perishing?” (Mark 4:35-38)
So, the scriptures say a great windstorm arose. That word arose meant it came up suddenly. It was unexpected and came out of nowhere. The word great comes from the word, megas, which is where we get the word, mega, from.
Mega is defined as; exceedingly, great, high, large, mighty, of mass proportions, abundant, splendid, and of a grand scale.
So, there arose an exceedingly great, large and mighty windstorm. One of mass proportions. And they were on a little boat in the middle of the sea. Can you imagine how they were being tossed and thrown during that mega windstorm. Yet Jesus was asleep.
Finally, they woke Jesus up and as we know, He stood up and spoke to the wind and said, “Peace, be still.” What happened then? The bible says there was a great calm. In other words, there was an exceedingly great, mighty and of mass proportions CALM that came not only on the boat that day, but on the entire sea.
I found it interesting that another definition of megas is Gods preeminent blessings. That day, after the mega windstorm – Jesus spoke and commanded a mega blessing of peace and calm – and the wind obeyed him.
That word, preeminent means surpassing all others.

The enemy may bring a mega storm into your life. He may attempt to put a mega sickness on you or a loved one. He may try to cause a mega financial storm in your midst. He may try.
But, when all is said and done, when you arise and speak like Jesus did. With Jesus backing your faith filled words, the end result will be mega peace, mega calm. The final story will be God’s preeminent blessing. A blessing which will surpass anything the enemy attempted to pull off.
I don’t know about you, but the enemy has brought some mega storms into my life this year. There have been storms that appeared to be of mass proportions. But today, God is saying, if that is what he attempted, just wait and see what I will do. The enemy can never out do God. There is just no way. It reminds me of a scripture in Romans 8:18.
For I reckon that the sufferings of this present time are not worthy to be compared with the glory which shall be revealed in us.
The Amplified says it like this.
But what of that? For I consider that the sufferings of this present time are not worth being compared with the glory that is about to be revealed to us and in us and for us and conferred on us!
The Message says it like this.
That’s why I don’t think there’s any comparison between the present hard times and the coming good times.
My friend, I don’t know about you, but I am encouraged. I may walk through mega storms, but I have mega preeminent blessings, much greater than the storms, coming my way. I am ready for the mega, how about you? Mega Storms equal abundantly above all we can ask or think, preeminent blessings of God… Praise the Lord!
