2 Corinthians 3:18 came to mind today as I was thinking about something the Lord put on my heart.

And all of us, as with unveiled face, [because we] continued to behold [in the Word of God] as in a mirror the glory of the Lord, are constantly being transfigured into His very own image in ever increasing splendor and from one degree of glory to another; [for this comes] from the Lord [Who is] the Spirit. I began to think about going from one level to another in God. We don’t start out of the top level, no, we begin on a lower level and go up as we know more about Him and His word. As we walk through seasons of growth in Him, we move up levels. Just as in school, we must graduate from one grade level before we move up to the next one.

I began to think about my little great-nephew, Tucker. He is a ball player. This year he went to the State Tournament, but he didn’t start there.

First, his team had to play and win against all the other local teams. After that season, they had to play in a District Tournament and win in that arena. It was only after graduating from those two levels that his team made it to the State level and were able to play in the State Tournament.

It’s the same with us as Christians. When we are first born again, we are at the Kindergarten level, so to speak. During that season it seemed to me like God was so close and the battles were so easy – it was like He carried me through them. Eventually I graduated from that level and went to another level. That season was more difficult; I had to fight more for victory. It wasn’t as easy as it was at first and I must say, it is kind of shocking.

The longer I walked with God, the more challenges the enemy would bring my way – why? I was growing in God and he was doing all he could do to stop it. He doesn’t not want us to walk in higher levels in God. The problem is, he can’t stop it if we will keep going.

Let’s look back at the scripture.

How do we go from glory to glory or from level to level?

According to this scripture we graduate from one level to another by beholding the Word of God, as a mirror. In other words, we see our situations, our daily lives by the mirror of God’s word or by the way God sees our life.

Now, let’s think a little deeper or a little different. When we behold the Word of God, we are beholding Jesus. The Bible says the Word became flesh and dwelt among us, correct? So, when we are gazing face to face into the Word of God, we are having a face to face encounter with JESUS, HIMSELF. That is how we grow.

My friends, daily we are growing in God, or at least we should be. Daily we are going from one level to another level, from glory to glory. Daily, we are invited to have a face-to-face encounter with Jesus. Daily we are urged to behold our lives, our situations through the word of God and allow our lives to begin to mirror His word, isn’t that awesome?!

It is my prayer this day, that you go from glory to glory expediently. That you behold the very face of our Lord in your daily encounters. That you mirror who He says you are, because, in His reality, that IS who you are.
